Home Free: Ohio Artists Envision Prison Abolition made its second stop on its exhibition tour at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center of Worthington in early 2025. On view through March 20, the exhibition featured work by currently and formerly incarcerated artists from the Returning Artists Guild.
Through the work of artists directly impacted by the criminal legal system, Home Free explored the conditions and experiences of incarceration while examining mass incarceration as a means to safety, justice and rehabilitation. The exhibition centered the artists’ creative practices and perspectives, creating a public platform for work that challenges audiences to consider both the realities of incarceration and possibilities beyond it.
The exhibition reflects the RAG’s broader mission to nurture the artistic practices of currently and formerly incarcerated artists while building public support for ending mass incarceration.
