Join the Guild

Who Can Join?

  • We prioritize applications from currently and formerly incarcerated artists. Those who have been otherwise institutionalized or confined, and others directly impacted, are also welcome to apply.
  • The RAG is based in Ohio, but artists from anywhere may apply.
  • We define “artist” broadly: anyone engaged in a creative practice, whether or not that practice fits a traditional fine-art medium. Guild members currently work with native plants, hair design, and community organizing, among other practices.

Application tips

  • Applications are reviewed by a committee of Guild members. Strong applications include a clearly written description of your creative practice and compelling work samples.
  • If technology is a barrier—including creating or uploading work samples—reach out for support at 614.496.7195.
  • A gentle reminder: you don't have to over-explain your experience of incarceration to RAG. You don't owe that explanation to anyone. We're interested in what you create and how you want to contribute to the community.
