Bringing lived experience into public view

• We present exhibitions, performances, screenings, readings, and artist showcases that center the work of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated creatives.
• Whenever possible, we create opportunities for artists, Guild leaders, and community members to engage audiences through artist talks, panel discussions, performances, school visits, tours, and public conversations that provide deeper context for the work.
• We support artists in sharing their stories and creative practices through exhibition materials, catalogs, artist statements, and other interpretive resources that help audiences connect more deeply with the ideas behind the art.
• We use art as a catalyst for reflection, dialogue, and collective imagination—inviting audiences to consider belonging, human potential, and futures beyond incarceration.

Community Dialogue & Education

Creating space for learning and conversation

• We convene panels, artist talks, workshops, and community conversations that explore the intersections of art, incarceration, justice, and belonging.
• We support public learning by sharing lived experiences, creative practices, and perspectives often absent from mainstream conversations, creating opportunities for people to engage with ideas and experiences that challenge conventional narratives.
• We encourage audiences to question assumptions, engage with complexity, and expand their sense of what is possible for individuals, communities, and society.

Partnerships & Collaborations

Building a network of trusted partners

• We collaborate with arts organizations, galleries, curators, educational institutions, community groups, and movement partners who share our commitment to supporting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated creatives.
• Through these relationships, we create opportunities for artists to exhibit, perform, teach, speak, and engage with new audiences while receiving fair compensation for their work and expertise.
• We work intentionally to build a network of trusted partners who value artists as collaborators and leaders, creating spaces where members can participate fully without fear of exploitation or tokenization.
• We believe lasting cultural change happens through sustained relationships, shared learning, and collective action. Building a more just future requires not only policy change, but also shifts in culture, understanding, and public imagination.

Developing artist-centered approaches to creative engagement

• We create projects, resources, and initiatives that help artists, organizations, and communities engage more thoughtfully with the intersections of art, incarceration, and social change.
• We support artist-led efforts that elevate creative autonomy, strengthen ethical collaboration, and challenge systems and narratives that limit how people are seen and understood.
• Our work often includes developing tools, resources, and shared practices that help partners engage with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated artists in ways that honor agency, build trust, and foster meaningful exchange.
  We believe artists should have a voice not only in the work they create, but also in the systems, relationships, and conversations that shape how that work is shared and experienced.

Connecting Artists & Communities

Connecting artists, audiences, and opportunities

• We work to expand awareness of returning artists and their work through exhibitions, performances, media coverage, community events, and public storytelling.
• We collaborate with partners to promote artists and exhibitions, helping new audiences engage with the work, support artists through purchases and commissions, and learn more about the role art can play in opening minds, fostering connection, and inspiring individual and collective transformation.
• We cultivate relationships between artists, collectors, curators, and community members, serving as a connector rather than a gatekeeper. Whenever possible, we help artists build and sustain those relationships directly. We believe meaningful engagement extends beyond a single exhibition or event. By sharing stories, fostering connections, and closing feedback loops with artists—including those who are still incarcerated—we help ensure that creative work remains connected to the people and communities it reaches.

Public Storytelling & Media Engagement

Expanding awareness through art and storytelling

• We work with media outlets, cultural partners, and community organizations to share the work, stories, and accomplishments of Guild members with broader audiences.
• Through public relations, social media, publications, exhibitions, performances, and community outreach, we help audiences engage with the creativity, leadership, and lived experiences of returning artists.
• We believe storytelling can open minds, challenge assumptions, and help build a future where people are seen for their talent, humanity, and contributions.

Consulting & Thought Partnership

Helping institutions engage more thoughtfully

• We provide consulting, training, and strategic guidance to organizations seeking to deepen their understanding of incarceration, reentry, and the role of art in social change.
• We help partners develop more informed, inclusive, and artist-centered approaches to programming and engagement.
• We bring lived experience, creative expertise, and cultural insight to conversations about building a more just and imaginative future.
