Solidarity Dividend: Art in Action was a multidisciplinary collaboration between the World House Choir and 12 formerly incarcerated artists, presented May 14–15, 2022, at Antioch College’s Foundry Theater in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Presented alongside a concert exploring connection, creativity and justice across prison walls and social boundaries, the RAG founders Aimee Wissman and Kamisha Thomas curated an exhibition of artwork by formerly incarcerated artists. The weekend also included a screening of short films by Wissman and Thomas, including two works they created while incarcerated at Dayton Correctional Institution.
Through visual art, film, choral music, hip-hop and original performances by returning artists, Solidarity Dividend created multiple ways for audiences to engage with the experiences and creative voices of people impacted by incarceration. The collaboration reflects the RAG’s growing work beyond traditional gallery spaces, using art and partnership to build connection across the boundaries created by incarceration.
