The Columbus Dispatch featured Onto Life’s Pages, one of the first major media stories to spotlight the artists and work that would help shape the Returning Artists Guild.
The poster project featured six formerly incarcerated Ohio artists, including future RAG co-founders Aimee Wissman and Kamisha Thomas, and was created to compensate artists for their work, provide professional development and bring art by justice-impacted people into public spaces.
The story introduces readers to Thomas and fellow artist Gwendolyn Garth while exploring the role art played during and after incarceration. It also captures an early moment in a growing movement to ensure that work by system-impacted artists is part of the broader arts and culture conversation in Columbus and beyond.
