A one-day, artist-run multimedia arts and music festival in September of 2019, Cloud City (or Cloud City 614) was hosted in the 400 West Rich arts hub in the East Franklinton neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio.
For the festival, RAG created an immersive, stand-alone Cloud City Jail, where patrons tested their luck playing prison-themed games, experienced artwork by original RAG members and engaged with the realities of incarceration in an unexpected way.
By combining art, play and education, the installation invited audiences to think differently about incarceration and offered an early example of RAG’s approach to using art as a starting point for conversation, connection and understanding.
