Imagining Abolition: Family Reunion was an exhibition and community project presented by Returning Artists Guild (RAG) in partnership with Wave Pool’s *The Welcome Project( in Cincinnati, Ohio. On view from June 22 through September 14, 2024, the exhibition celebrated solidarity with incarcerated artists and the artists working alongside them on the outside.
Bringing together currently and formerly incarcerated and exonerated artists, Imagining Abolition explored abolition through the lived experiences of people directly impacted by the carceral system. Through art and creative practice, participating artists created space to rel what they had survived while imagining what a truly free future could look like.
The exhibition reflects the RAG’s broader approach to abolition as both imagination and action: sharing stories, healing community and supporting artists still inside the fences until they, too, come home.
